Penn State Hershey offers 'healthy' Facebook page

May 25, 2011

The Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center Facebook page now offers easy access to a wealth of health resources, like our Health Information Library, a symptom checker, a drug interaction tool, and a series of wellness tools.

-- The Health Information Library includes over 3,900 physician developed and reviewed health articles covering conditions, procedures, treatments, surgeries, tests and more to help people better understand health and medical conditions. It includes over 3,000 medical illustrations, diagrams and photos and over 120 multimedia videos from one online resource.

-- The online symptom checker will help you to decide whether to treat at home or see a doctor. Each topic addresses possible causes of the symptom, how to self treat, when it is an emergency, when you should call a doctor, and how to prevent it in the future -- all in one easy step.

-- Use the Drug Interaction and Notes tool to check for potential interactions between drugs. Enter two or more drugs, and the results will tell you whether the two drugs can have harmful interactions. It also will tell you whether the drugs have duplicate ingredients. You can enter one drug and check for any known drug, food, alcohol, or tobacco interactions. This tool also contains information on herbs.

The quick and useful wellness tools will help you estimate your healthy body weight, target heart rate, amount of body fat and more. These tools will help you set exercise goals and educate you about your health.

To try these health tools, visit and go to the Health Information tab, or access it directly:
