Police seek information about suspicious activity

University Park, Pa. -- Penn State Police are seeking information about suspicious activity outside Nittany Apartments on the University Park campus in the early morning hours of June 26. Anyone who was in the area and observed such activity is asked to contact University Police at 814-863-1111 or at http://www.police.psu.edu/witness online. Information also can be reported to Centre County Crime Stoppers at 1-877-99-CRIME. Those providing information leading to an arrest may be eligible for an award up to $1,000 from Crime Stoppers.

Police urge residents to contact police immediately following any incident of suspicious activity. Delays in reporting incidents make it more difficult for police to locate suspects.

With the arrival of new students on campus this week, Penn State Police are reminding everyone to take steps to increase their own safety:

-- Always lock windows and doors.
-- Contact police immediately by calling 9-1-1 if you see suspicious activity or people.
-- Do not allow unescorted guests into the building.
-- Be aware of surroundings, use safe routes and avoid being alone in dark or secluded areas.
