Dinner raises more than $10,600 for ALS Clinic and Center

For the past nine years, the Zimmerman Family Love Fund has partnered with Dafnos Italian Grille in Hummelstown to host the Pasta for PALS dinner. PALS denotes people with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS. This year’s event, held in April, raised $10,678 for Penn State College of Medicine and the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center’s ALS Clinic to support basic science, translational and clinical research.

More than 430 people enjoyed about 100 pounds of pasta, 25 gallons of sauce, more than 400 dinner rolls, salad, beverages, and HERSHEY’S candy bars. The event is organized by JoAn Zimmerman, director of the Zimmerman Family Love Fund, and is held in loving memory of her late husband, Bruce W. Zimmerman, who was a patient at the Medical Center clinic in 2000. Since its inception, the annual dinner has raised nearly $92,000.
