July 27, 2011

Michele Parson, a breast cancer survivor, recognizes the importance of research in the prevention and treatment of breast cancer. Through the support of family, friends and a planning committee of Pink Ladies, she has raised more than $80,000 during the past six years to support breast cancer research at Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute.

Recently, Michele and the Pink Ladies presented a check for $23,000, proceeds from this year’s Michele Parson Breast Cancer Fund Dinner/Dance, to representatives from the Cancer Institute.

Held annually in April, the Michele Parson Breast Cancer Fund Dinner/Dance includes dinner, dancing, a live auction and raffles. In 2011, more than 25 businesses and 53 individuals supported the event. Additional fundraisers this year will include a Basket Bingo on Oct. 9 at the Carlisle BPO Elks Ballroom and a November music benefit concert at West Perry High School. Anyone wishing to purchase tickets or to make a donation may call Parson at 717-324-1529 or email
