Lion Surplus items now on

To broaden its customer base, Penn State Lion Surplus has begun auctioning off some of its items on The site provides services to various government agencies that allow them to sell surplus and confiscated items via the Internet. Each participating agency has its own auction rules and regulations.

Lion Surplus officials said the site is another avenue to market their equipment. Although relatively new, GovDeals is becoming popular among government agencies, and the state of Pennsylvania has already signed on.

Anyone can bid on items. Merchandise that may be more unique or more difficult to find will most likely show up on GovDeals listings, or the Lion Surplus eBay page. Surplus officials hope this will attract more customers and build a bigger audience.

  • Penn State's Surplus and Salvage operation has changed its name to Lion Surplus. Lion Surplus will be conducting its annual spring auction at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 11, at the University Surplus and Salvage Warehouse, University Park.
