Documentary series scheduled Wednesday nights in Carnegie Cinema

Movies that display a variety of filmmaking approaches and styles will be screened during the Carnegie Cinema Documentary Film Series, which will be conducted Wednesday nights throughout the fall semester on the University Park campus.

Ten different movies were selected for the free public series. While all of the films are documentaries, some feature an activist approach while others were made from a first-person perspective and others rely on re-enactments.

"Docs are hot content in today's reality-obsessed culture. They bring personal perspectives and ideational focus to the tsunami of information and disinformation that engulfs us as media consumers," said Naomi McCormack, an assistant professor in the Department of Film-Video and Media Studies who coordinated the series and selected the films for screening. "I created this series with an eye toward showcasing a variety of doc styles that engage the audience in a critical thought process. These films will excite, intrigue and provoke viewers into learning more about the world and themselves."

All of the documentaries will air at 7:45 p.m. in Carnegie Cinema, located in 113 Carnegie Building.
