From move-in to Convocation, the weekend of Aug.19 was a busy one on Penn State's University Park campus.
New and returning students moved into residence halls with the help of Welcome Weekend student volunteers and Penn State President Graham B. Spanier.
Many of the activities revolved around introducing freshmen to Penn State and the University Park campus. Convocation, held at the Bryce Jordan Center on Aug. 20, traditionally marks the official start of Penn State's academic year. The weekend culminates with the annual Be a Part from the Start rally at Rec Hall. The event includes the Blue Band, Glee Club, cheerleaders and the Nittany Lion, and is designed to help freshmen learn all of Penn State's traditional cheers and songs.
