University's support contract for Oracle Calendar Manager to end

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Oracle has announced the end-of-life for their software calendar product, Oracle Calendar Manager (OCM). As a result, Penn State has adopted a new environment for electronic collaboration. Information Technology Services (ITS) currently is in the process of migrating users from OCM to a new email, calendaring and collaboration service known as the University Collaboration Suite (UCS). This new service is centrally funded and will be provided free-of-charge to all Penn State faculty and staff. UCS is a full-service system that offers users a choice of email and calendar clients with an Operation System independence.

To ensure a smooth transition, Penn State’s ITS consultants will work with each of its units and departments to migrate Oracle users to UCS. If it becomes necessary, ITS will purchase an extended maintenance contract beyond October 2011 to ensure continued support during the transitional period.

ITS Training Services has training opportunities available for OCM customers prior to UCS migration. Faculty and staff should contact their unit’s designated ITS consultant at http://css.its.psu.edu/node/147 for additional information. Visit http://ait.its.psu.edu/services/ucs to learn more about UCS.
