'The Penn State Football Story' debuts for 2011 on Sunday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Emmy Award-winning program, The Penn State Football Story, will debut this weekend on outlets throughout the nation as the Nittany Lions open the 2011 campaign. Penn State hosts Indiana State on Saturday at noon to launch its 125th campaign. 

Also returning this weekend on the Penn State Sports Network are Steve Jones and Jack Ham, as they begin their 12th season together calling Nittany Lion football. All Penn State football games can be heard on more than 50 Penn State Sports Network stations in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and www.GoPSUsports.com. The "Penn State Tailgate Show Presented by UnitedHealthcare" begins 90 minutes before kickoff.

Critically acclaimed, The Penn State Football Story captures the closeness between players, coaches and staff that is vital in Penn State maintaining its position as one of the nation's premier football programs. Every program this season will feature a profile on at least one member of the squad, in addition to features on other aspects of the Nittany Lion program.

The Penn State Football Story has captured "Outstanding Sports Series" honors at regional Emmy Awards six times in the past 13 years. The Penn State Football Story and Penn State Basketball Story have won more than 25 regional Emmy Awards from the Mid-Atlantic, New York and Suncoast Chapters of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences through the years.

The program airs every week during the Nittany Lions' football season throughout Pennsylvania, the Big Ten Network and regional sports cable networks and channels throughout the nation.

Mind Over Media, a Pittsburgh-based production company, produces The Penn State Football Story and the Penn State Basketball Story. Mind Over Media has received numerous Emmy nominations for its work on Penn State football and men's basketball programming produced in cooperation with Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics.

Among the Pennsylvania outlets carrying The Penn State Football Story are: WTAJ-TV, Ch. 10 (State College, Altoona, Johnstown); WPSU-TV, Ch. 3 (State College/Central Pa.); WLYH-TV, Ch. 15 (Harrisburg, Lancaster, York, Reading); WNEP-TV, Ch. 16 (Scranton/Wilkes-Barre); WFMZ-TV, Ch. 69 (Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton); WFXP-TV, Ch. 66 (Erie); Root Sports and CSN-Philadelphia (Philadelphia/New Jersey/Delaware).

The Big Ten Network, YES (New York) and MASN (Baltimore-Washington, D.C.), are among the other networks carrying the The Penn State Football Story across the nation. The program will air on BTN every Monday at 11 a.m. ET, starting on Sept. 5.
