License gives Penn Staters access to Chronicle of Higher Ed

Full access to the online content of "The Chronicle of Higher Education" is now in place for all Penn State faculty, staff and students. Anyone on a Penn State campus can visit chronicle.com without authentication. Those off-campus or who are not logging in from a computer with a Penn State IP address will need to authenticate via a Penn State server using their access account to establish a VPN secure connection. Once authenticated, access can be gained through the Libraries' link, at http://www.libraries.psu.edu/psul/home.html online. The link to the Chronicle is also available on the libraries' A-Z list as well as through the e-journals list.

In addition, faculty, staff and students who sign up for a free Chronicle account using their psu.edu email address can do the following when they visit http://www.chronicle.com/ online:

-- access premium content from any location;

-- access all content from a smartphone, tablet or any other mobile device with a Web browser;

-- sign up for the free e-newsletters such as Academe Today, Chronicle Review, the Global Edition and others;

-- sign up for job alerts;

-- participate in Chronicle forums;

-- comment on Chronicle articles; and

-- email Chronicle content to colleagues.

To create a free account, visit http://www.chronicle.com/ and click the "create" link in the top-right corner of the home page.

The institutional license made possible by support from Penn State's central administration, not only gives the Penn State community access to important information, but it also achieves financial savings and contributes to the University's sustainability efforts.
