2012 Class Gift Committee to display 'Hall of Gifts' on Sept. 16

September 12, 2011

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State's Senior Class Gift Committee invites all members of the University community to visit the "Hall of Gifts" on Friday, Sept. 16, on the Old Main patio on the University Park campus, during Parents and Families Weekend.

The committee created the showcase of past Penn State senior class gifts to help increase awareness of the impact that philanthropy has at the University. The Old Main patio display will feature information about such gifts as the Land Grant Frescoes (class of 1932 and 1946), the HUB Aquarium (class of 1999), the Allen Street Gates (class of 1916), the Nittany Lion Shrine (class of 1940), and more. Members of the committee will be on-hand from 1:30 to 4 p.m. to talk with visitors about the history of the class gift program and to answer questions about the process of making a gift to Penn State.

“The tradition of the senior class gift is rooted in the pride and loyalty we feel for our University," said Amy Hudak, a senior in premedicine and committee member. "Our predecessors have allowed us to benefit from 151 years of giving; we too, must pay it forward. We look forward to seeing you, your friends and families during Parents and Families Weekend!”

Questions can be directed to Jordan Ford, senior class gift adviser, at jaf378@psu.edu or 814-863-3935.
