UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State's World Campus' website and Lori Stania, director of student enrollment services, financial operations and analytics in Outreach, World Campus and Continuing Education; both have won awards that will be presented at the 2011 University Professional Continuing Education Association's (UPCEA) Mid-Atlantic Regional Annual Conference on Oct. 5. UPCEA is an international professional association for those in higher continuing education and lifelong learning.

UPCEA's Mid-Atlantic Region includes Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia and West Virginia. This year, the conference will be held in Princeton Oct. 5 through 7.

The two UPCEA awards are:

* Marketing and Promotions: Electronic Award for the World Campus Website Redesign Project. This summer, Penn State's World Campus launched a website redesigned to make the site easier to use and navigate. The redesign features a new mobile edition which allows smart phone users to access the website from anywhere. The website also puts all the tools prospective and current World Campus students need to prepare to learn online in one place. Visitors can view videos of current students and quickly find the information they need to make decisions about their education at their convenience.

* Alexander Charters Award — Outstanding Continuing Educator Award to Lori A. Stania. Stania has taken on a variety of leadership roles since she became a part of the Penn State World Campus and Academic Outreach team in 2002. She is responsible for more than 60 employees while participating in strategic planning for the World Campus and Continuing Education. Stania provides direction and guidance for Student Enrollment Services, Financial Operations and Analytics staff and Outreach Institutional Data Research. She also serves on University committees involved with student issues. In the past year, she has made three conference presentations and also produces internal white papers on her research about matters of concern to Penn State students and the institution.
