Africana Research Center to hold conference Sept. 30, Oct. 1

The Africana Research Center at Penn State will hold a conference titled "Celebrating African-American Literature: Race, Sexuality, and African-American Literature" on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at the Nittany Lion Inn on the University Park campus.

Elizabeth Goreham, the mayor of State College, Pa., will be on hand Friday morning to greet conference participants. Speakers and panelists for the event will include noted scholars Trudier Harris, Robert Reid-Pharr, E. Patrick Johnson, Magdalena Zaborowska, Sharon P. Holland and Charles I. Nero, in addition to poetry and fiction authors Randall Kenan, Sharon Bridgforth, G. Winston James, Marci Blackman, Gee Joyner, Daniel Black and Duriel Harris.
