Penn Staters join in for United Way Day of Caring

October 06, 2011

Faculty, staff and students from Penn State joined with volunteers from around the region for the 18th annual Centre County United Way Day of Caring on Oct. 6. The day began early for volunteers with a pancake breakfast at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, hosted by Day of Caring honorary Chairwoman Sue Paterno. From there participants reported to work sites throughout Centre County to provide their expertise and lend their support to a variety of nonprofit organizations.

With paint brushes, rakes, saws and brooms at the ready, more than 1,000 participants from Penn State and the entire county reflected the spirit and value of volunteerism and demonstrated what people working together for the good of a community can accomplish.
