PSFEI's Macafee receives achievement award

Wayne Macafee, a mechanical engineer at the Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEI), received the 2011 Outstanding Achievement Award at the Pennsylvania Facilities Managers Association Conference.

Macafee was recognized for his work on behalf of central boiler plants at facilities owned and operated by Pennsylvania.

Jim Myers, director of Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute, said Macafee "provides an unbiased view of the needs of our clients in a way that always looks out for the best interests of the citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania."

Macafee has been working at the PSFEI since 2002 and assists with issues related to operation, maintenance, efficiency and environmental compliance of central boiler points at state-owned facilities.

Macafee graduated from Penn State in 1982 with a bachelor of science degree in nuclear engineering. He served 12 years as a nuclear-trained naval officer. Before working for the PSFEI, he was the power plant process engineering manager at an international paper mill.
