CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Penn State Lehigh Valley freshman Matt Baranoski and sophomore Mandy Marquardt had impressive finishes in a number of events at the USA Cycling Collegiate Track Nationals held in September in Indianapolis, Ind.
Baranoski, of Perkasie, Pa., placed first in the kilometer and sprint events, and second in the flying time trial. Marquardt, of Brienigsville, Pa., placed first in the flying time trial, second in the sprint, seventh in the three kilometer pursuit and rounded out the top 10 in the points race.
Baranoski also medalled in all four events he competed in, one of only three riders to do so, at the USA Cycling 2011 Elite Track Nationals held Sept. 28-Oct. 2 in Carson, Calif. He placed second in the keirin in a photo finish, third in the team sprint, fifth in sprints, and third in the kilometer event.
