Are cellphones safe for children?

Even children use cellphones these days, and there is some concern about whether this puts them at risk. Children's brains and nervous systems are less fully developed and, because their heads are smaller, they face a greater proportional exposure to the radiofrequency emitted by the phones.

Studies so far have found no increased risk of brain cancer among children using cellphones. Mobi-Kids, a large ongoing international study, will evaluate risks associated with all new communications technologies, including cellphones in youth ages 10 to 24.
