Lantern tours bring Penn State history to life

October 28, 2011

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- From Old Coaly to George Atherton, a variety of characters vital to Penn State's history roamed the University Park campus on the evening of Oct. 27 as part of the annual Lion Ambassadors' lantern tours. The tours began on the Old Main steps and led guests past some of Penn State's most significant historical sights. At various locations Lion Ambassadors portrayed specific Penn State characters from the past and offered brief narratives of their time here.

Renowned places, people and traditions combined with a fun learning experience, the annual lantern tours are open to the public and will continue from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight (Oct. 28) beginning on the Old Main steps. Snacks and music will be provided.
