Business Case Competition at Penn State Altoona a success

Held Nov. 4-5 and sponsored by the Hite Company, the inaugural Penn State Altoona Business Case Competition was a successful educational and real-world learning experience for student participants.

Each of the four members of the winning team, Seal Team Six, received a $2,500 Penn State scholarship and members of the runner up team, Reaching New Hites, were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship thanks to the generous philanthropy of The Hite Company.

The case used at the competition was developed by the Business Case Competition Advisory Board and was based on an existing opportunity at The Hite Company. Eight teams, comprised of four students each, spent 24 hours preparing a solution to the case and presenting that solution. Team members then participated in two 10-minute sessions with the judges: one featuring a question-and-answer format and the other focused on feedback. The criteria for judging included overall performance and quality of analysis, presentation and the question-and-answer session.
