Basketball wins opener, faces Mt. Aloysius; Wrestling at W&J Tourney

Penn State New Kensington's wrestling and men's basketball teams are on the road this week. Wrestling travels to Washington and Jefferson College for an open invitational at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 in Washington, Pa. Basketball meets Mt. Aloysius College at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in Cresson, Pa.

Second-year head coach Doug Schneider's basketball team is coming off a nonconference, season-opening victory Nov. 8 at University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, 76-60. Senior guard Daryl Harrington (Perry Traditional High School) led all scorers with 24 points followed by senior forward Justin Reed (Saltsburg) with 20 points. Freshman guard Lamont Wright added 16 points in his first collegiate game.

Under the direction of first-year head coach Doug Joseph, the wrestlers play a nine-match schedule that includes three home duals in the campus Athletics Center and six tournaments on the road. The home matches feature Penn State Fayette on Jan. 7, Penn State Greater Allegheny on Jan. 12, and Penn State Beaver on Jan. 19.
