Stand Up Award nomination deadline is Jan. 17

Nominations for the Penn State Rock Ethics Institute's Fifth Annual Stand Up Award are due by Jan. 17. The Stand Up Award honors undergraduate students who have exhibited ethical leadership. Any faculty, staff, student, or community member may nominate a student for the Stand Up Award.

The Stand Up Award recognizes Penn State students who have the courage and fortitude to take an ethical stand for a person, a cause, or belief, and thereby demonstrate ethical leadership concerning this issue. The goal is to remind the entire Penn State community how often the extraordinary act is possible in ordinary circumstances.

Any student nominated for this award:
-- Must be enrolled as a full-time baccalaureate student at any Penn State campus during at least one semester of the 2011-12 academic year;
-- Must have demonstrated ethical leadership either at Penn State or in the community; and
-- Should have fostered the ethical development of peers.

Selected nominees will be honored at a ceremony in April 2012 during which they will be presented with a $1,000 award.
