Penn State Shenango held vigil for victims of child abuse Nov. 29

In light of the recent events at Penn State, the Shenango campus welcomed the community to a public vigil in support of victims of child abuse on Tuesday, Nov. 29 in the campus' auditorium, located on Shenango Avenue in downtown Sharon, Pa. Following the vigil, a reception was held in the Great Hall.

The event included a presentation on child abuse and its impact on victims. Available resources and various strategies for supporting a loved one's healing process were discussed. William McGuigan, associate professor of human development and family studies at the Shenango campus, and Nikki Cadman from AWARE, were the keynote speakers.

A collection for new and gently used toys for the children who are staying in AWARE shelters was held.
