Essay contest winners named at Penn State York

Ben Morgan, a junior at Penn State York majoring in English, is the winner of the third annual Penn State York Blue & White Society (BWS) essay contest. Current students were asked, "How do you show your Penn State pride on our campus and in our community?"

Morgan, 25, from Hanover, Pa., shared his thoughts in his essay, “I Pride Therefore I Act.” He received a certificate and a $50 gift card to the Penn State York Bookstore. Second place winner is Brian Baker, 18, from York, Pa., a freshman majoring in education, with his essay "Why I’m Penn State Proud." He received a $25 gift card to the bookstore. Honorable mentions went to Alyssa Gradus, Bel Air, Md., for “Campus of the World;” Nathan Mooney, Stewartstown, Pa., for “Things About Penn State York I Am Glad to Have;” Heather Searfoss, Mechanicsburg, Pa., for “Penn State: The Experience;” and Ashley Valentin, York, Pa., for “Being my Best Self at Penn State.”
