Campus community and friends attend candlelight vigil

The Penn State Beaver Student Government Association held a candlelight vigil at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 in recognition and support of sexual abuse victims of all ages. The vigil, held beside the pond at the Brodhead Cultural Center, was attended by more than 50 students, staff, faculty, and members of the community, including Beaver County District Attorney Anthony Berosh.

Blue ribbons were given to every attendee to wear since blue is the color chosen to symbolize sexual abuse. Speakers at the vigil were Jill Marsilio-Colonna, director, Women’s Center of Beaver County; John Chapin, professor of communications, Penn State Beaver; and LaVarr McBride, instructor in administration of justice at Beaver, Penn State New Kensington and Penn State Shenango.
