After a four-week semester break, the Penn State New Kensington men's winter sports teams enter the 2012 portion of the campaign. Coach Doug Schneider’s squad returns with a two-game conference homestand at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 13, against Penn State Mont Alto in the Athletics Center. The next day, the New Kensington Lions host Penn State Hazleton at noon. New Kensington has a 2-4 Penn State University Athletic Conference record and a 3-6 overall mark.

In conjunction with the Hazleton game, the Alle-Kiski Alumni Society is sponsoring an alumni social. Penn State alumni and friends are invited to join fellow Penn Staters to cheer on the New Kensington Lions and to enjoy postgame festivities at Power Play Sports Bar, located on Craigdell Road at Route 56 on the New Kensington/Lower Burrell border. The social includes free food. For more information or to RSVP for the social, contact Bill Woodard at uxw1@psu.edu.

Basketball ended the fall portion of the schedule Dec. 10, with a 75-72 conference loss at Penn State York. Sophomore guard Daryl Harrington scored a team-high 16 points and freshman guard Lamont Wright added 14 points and seven rebounds.

The second-year wrestling team opens its season at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, with a dual match against Penn State Greater Allegheny in the Athletics Center. The PSUAC match is the first of two home duals for first-year head coach Doug Joseph. Penn State Beaver visits the Athletics Center at 7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19.
