Website consolidates sexual assault resource information

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State's Office of Student Affairs has updated the Center for Women Students website to include information about sexual assault resources available at each Penn State campus. The new resource page can be found at http://studentaffairs.psu.edu/womenscenter/resources/ccsar.shtml online, and includes campus-specific PDF files containing contact information for medical assistance, emotional support, campus referral information and advocacy, and transportation.

The website is the latest addition to the University's resources. In November, the University set up a new Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence Hotline, run by ProtoCall.

"Provision of this service is an additional part of Penn State's commitment to make sure victims and observers of victimization have access to a full spectrum of campus and community resources," said Peggy Lorah, director of the Center for Women Students at University Park.

One phone number - 800-550-7575 (TTY 866-714-7177) - will access the hotline 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for all Penn State campuses. At University Park, the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services will work with the hotline to assist those who are in need of help. Since on-campus support services for abuse victims are limited at the campuses, this arrangement will make appropriate referrals to services available in their local communities.
