Looking for financial aid? Penn State Behrend staff want to guide you

There's money available to help pay for college, and Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, can help families find it.

As a public service for families of any college-bound student, Penn State Behrend is offering six online and two on-campus information sessions that walk participants through the financial aid search and application process. Included in the sessions will be an overview of the many sources of aid available; a review of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); and an explanation of the importance of meeting application deadlines.

“The college search process, and specifically applying for financial aid to help pay for college, can be overwhelming,” said Jane Brady, associate director of financial aid at Penn State Behrend. “The goal of our workshop and webinar series is to provide simple, easy to understand information regarding the types of financial aid available; how to apply for it; and how to decipher a financial aid package to determine what it will really cost to attend a particular college.”

The financial aid webinars, which last one hour, will be offered at noon on Thursday Jan. 26; Wednesday, Feb. 8; and Tuesday, Feb. 21; and at 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 30; Wednesday, Feb. 15; and Tuesday, Feb. 28. Participants need only to visit https://breeze.psu.edu/finaidbd/ and log on as a guest.

Live information sessions will take place in the Reed Auditorium, located on the second floor of Penn State Behrend’s Reed Union Building, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, and at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11. Preregistration is not required.

For additional information about any of the presentations, phone the Penn State Behrend Office of Financial Aid at 814-898-6162 or email behrendfinaid@psu.edu.
