Undergraduate Summer Discovery Grant applications due Feb. 10

The Office of Undergraduate Education invites applications for the 2012 Undergraduate Summer Discovery Grant program. The deadline for applications is Feb. 10. It is anticipated that about 25 grants in the amount of $2,500 each will be awarded to Penn State undergraduate students for summer research and creative projects. The grants are supported by an endowment from the Penn State Alumni Association and funding from the Office of Undergraduate Education, with additional sponsorship for some awards from colleges.

Summer Discovery Grants are intended to promote student/faculty collaboration as undergraduates engage in original research, scholarship and creative work under the direct supervision of a faculty member. Penn State undergraduate students from all University locations and in all fields of study are eligible to apply for a grant for the summer following their first year through the summer before the year in which they will graduate. Eligible projects include laboratory and field research, scholarly inquiry and creative work in music, art, theatre and other fields.
