WPSU to air 'World on Trial'

The new interactive television series “World on Trial” will air at 10 a.m., 4 and 9 p.m. Jan. 31 on WPSU, and at 9 p.m. Feb. 2 on WPSU HD (channel 241 on Comcast; channel 16 on Atlantic Broadband; and channel 3.3 via broadcast).

Viewers will be able to step into the "World on Trial" courtroom with acclaimed human rights advocate and author Professor Randall Robinson as world-renowned jurists argue both sides of sharply contested international human rights issues. Then join juries throughout the world to reach a verdict on whether states are conforming to international treaties.

The inaugural episode deals with the French law prohibiting conspicuous religious attire in public schools. The program asks jurors and viewers to consider whether the law is a violation of the United Nations International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
