Two Penn State Beaver employees, with a combined total of almost 50 years of service, retired at the end of December 2011.

Ron Schwartz, police services supervisor, joined the campus in 1983, and Mary Ann Guy began working in the Office of Housing and Food Services in 1992.

Schwartz was responsible for the overall operation, management, and administration of campus law enforcement and safety services. Beaver has a full-time police force that works 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Prior to his arrival at Beaver, Schwartz served 12 years as an Allegheny County police officer and sergeant.

Guy was known for her skills in assisting with the set-up and implementation of both large and small catered and special events on campus. She worked in the Brodhead Bistro, the campus dining commons, and its service areas and cleaned as well as stocked serving ware and cookware.

"I worked with both Ron and Mary Ann in various capacities for many years," said Amy M. Krebs, director of campus and community relations. "They were absolutely devoted to their jobs and to the well-being of our campus, especially our students. Our campus community misses them, but we wish them well in this exciting new phase of their lives."
