The Arts Project announces new workshops for adults, age 55-plus

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- The Arts Project at Penn State Lehigh Valley has announced a new series of workshops for adults 55 and older. The cost of each class, which will meet four times during the month of March, is $50. The campus offers newly renovated studio facilities and is conveniently located across from the Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley. For more information or to register, call Ann Lalik at 610-285-5261.

Course List:

-- Basic watercolor, instructed by Jim Doddy, 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, March 6, 13, 20 and 27. This class will focus on how to mix colors, and how to apply paint to paper. Students can gain an understanding of how to render light, shadow, values, and the use of materials and techniques. Subject matter will include still life, landscapes and faces.

Introduction to photography, instructed by Greta Brubaker, 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, March 7, 14, 21 and 28. This course will address the basic principles of working with digital photography. The primary focus will be on learning a digital workflow and proper camera use. Flatbed scanning and ink jet printing also will be addressed. Students will use their own digital camera (any make and model is acceptable).
