Pathology Visiting Professor Lecture Series is Feb. 29

The Penn State Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine Department of Pathology Visiting Professor Lecture Series will be held at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 29, in the Pathology Conference Room, C7702. The guest lecturer, Raghu Machiraju, associate professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, The Ohio State University, will present “Quantitative Cellular Phenotyping in Tissue Microenvironments.”

Desktop computers have gone from nonexistent to pervasive in the space of less than 30 years. Computational power, which has already transformed our lives, also promises to transform the practice of pathology. Do you know what yet to expect?

Machiraju is a leader in the field of 2D and 3D image analysis and, with scientists like geneticist and pathologist Keith Cheng, Department or Pathology at the Medical Center and College of Medicine, is developing new technologies that may some day add quantitative and predictive power to the practice of anatomic pathology.
