February 27, 2012

The Penn State Engineering Ambassadors program was named the winner of the Gateway to Equity Award by the State College branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

The award was established by the Pennsylvania AAUW to recognize an individual, group, organization or business that has shown by action and philosophy the promotion of equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy or research. The award is given out locally by Pennsylvania AAUW branches in honor of International Women's Day on March 8.

The Engineering Ambassadors serve as the student representatives for the Penn State College of Engineering. Its members promote the field of engineering and the College through campus tours, middle and high school visits and presentations to prospective students and their families, alumni, industry partners and the community.

The Engineering Ambassadors will receive their award at a ceremony on April 5.
