Sixth annual Colon Cancer Prevention 5K Run and Fun Walk

Penn State Hershey Colon and Rectal Surgery is sponsoring the sixth annual Colon Cancer Prevention 5K Run and Fun Walk on Saturday, June 2. This race is dedicated to Palmyra resident and competitive runner William F. Foran, who lost his battle with colon cancer.

Money raised will support colorectal cancer prevention, testing and counseling at Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute. More than $50,000 has been raised over the past five years for the colon cancer genetics program.

Runners and walkers will enjoy a wheel-measured, flat course with no traffic. The race starts at the Carousel Pavilion on City Island in Harrisburg, Pa. Onsite registration begins at 7 a.m. at the pavilion.The race begins at 8:30 a.m. rain or shine. The free quarter-mile Kids Fun Run begins at 8:15 a.m. for ages 10 and under. T-shirts are guaranteed to pre-registered runners and walkers. Prize money, awards and refreshments will be available after the race.
