Support Staff Award honors Morgante

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Kelly Morgante, travel and education program assistant for the Penn State Alumni Association, has been honored with the 2012 Support Staff Award.

The award recognizes the overall high-quality performance of a full-time member of the support staff with at least five years of active service in fulfilling the mission of the University and of his or her college or administrative unit. It also recognizes dedicated focus to customer service, commitment to quality improvement, outstanding skills and abilities, teamwork and professionalism.

Morgante has been part of the Alumni Association’s program development and enrichment team for five years. In performing “above and beyond” her job description, one nominator noted, Morgante coordinated travel arrangements for the family of an alumni tour participant who had a heart attack in Sicily. “Kelly worked on the various pieces of this situation over a period of three consecutive days for an estimated 24 hours, not even stopping for a lunch break on two of the days,” the nominator said.

Functioning “at a level much higher than the scope of her current support staff position,” Morgante coordinated registration and excursion payments for a Penn State Family Escape to St. Kitts, helped coordinate the new Travel Showcase in Philadelphia, served as lead planner on several City Lights educational programs and developed the site visit itinerary for the 2012 Family Escape to Barbados.

Morgante recently reorganized her office’s routing process for contracts and payments and streamlined the process for sending gift mailings and insurance information. A nominator said, “I have been consistently impressed with Kelly’s work ethic, her devotion to the Alumni Association and the genuine care and concern she shows for our alumni and friends.”
