May 5: YPC Erie to unveil its World Choir Games competition repertoire

“One World,” at evening of international songs and sounds showcasing countries and cultures ranging from South Africa to Northern Ireland, will be sung by the Young People’s Chorus of Erie at its annual spring concert on Saturday, May 5.

“One World” will be held at 7 p.m. at Erie First Assembly, 8150 Oliver Road, Erie, Pa.

The performance will be the local debut of the repertoire YPC Erie’s Concert Chorus, Young Men’s Chorus, and Chorale plan to sing at the World Choir Games in July. The choral equivalent of the Olympics, the Games’ will draw 20,000 singers from across the globe to Cincinnati, Ohio, for 10 days of competition and fellowship.

Also performing in “One World” will be YPC Erie’s Cantare for young voices, as well as its two satellite choirs, which meet at the Multicultural Community Resource Center and the Bethesda Center for Musical Expression and Leadership. The performance will end with a 100-voice massed choir performing the Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie classic “We Are the World.”

“One World” tickets are $20, $15, and $10 for general admission, and $5 for students. Free student seating will be available in the balcony of Erie First Assembly; children 6 and under also will be admitted free of charge. To purchase tickets, visit or phone 814-898-6789.
