O'Brien to speak during Blue-White Weekend events

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State head football coach Bill O'Brien will make two appearances during Blue-White Weekend presented by AAA in addition to coaching the Nittany Lions during the Saturday, April 21 Blue-White Game in Beaver Stadium.

Kickoff for the Blue-White Game presented by AAA is set for 2 p.m. As in previous years, there will be no admission or parking fee for the Blue-White Game.

On April 21, fans interested in purchasing Penn State season tickets will have an opportunity to view sections where seats are available for the 2012 season. From noon-7 p.m., fans can meet ticket office representatives on the Beaver Stadium concourse at Sections NA and SA to view sections where seats are available for the seven-game home schedule, that includes Ohio State, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Indiana, Navy, Temple and Sept. 1 season opening opponent Ohio. Five of the seven home opponents played in a bowl game last season.

On Friday, April 20, O'Brien is scheduled to announce the winner of the WingFest Contest sponsored by WTAJ-TV. He will make the announcement at 8:45 p.m. at the entertainment stage west of Beaver Stadium, followed by fireworks at 9:15 p.m. The WingFest, carnival, and food vendors open at 6 p.m. and the Penn State Idol finals are at 7 p.m. The band Go Go Gadget will perform from 5:45-8:45 p.m. on the stage.

On Saturday, O'Brien and the 2012 football seniors will be the special guests at the Nittany Lion Club's annual Blue-White Event. The continental breakfast will be held in the Bryce Jordan Center prior to the Blue-White Game, which will kick off at 2:00 p.m. in Beaver Stadium.

The Blue-White Event is open to the public. Tickets are $20, the same price as last year, and are on sale. Doors for the Nittany Lion Club Blue-White Event will open at 9:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 10:30 a.m., including remarks from O'Brien. The event will be first-come, first-served open seating on the arena floor.

On April 21, the carnival and entertainment stage will open at 10 a.m. Beaver Stadium Gates A& B will open at 11:30 a.m. and Gates C & E will open at 12:00 p.m. the popular autograph session with the football student-athletes, which will run from 12:00-12:45 p.m.

Following the game, the band Low Jack will perform at the stage from 4:15-7:15 p.m. The carnival will run until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday, April 22.

The Penn State All-Sports Museum is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and inviting the public to join in the festivities. The Museum will host open houses on April 21 (6:30-9 p.m.) and April 22 (10 a.m.-4 p.m.), during Blue-White Weekend presented by AAA.

The Blue-White Game will air live on the Penn State Sports Network and www.GoPSUsports.com. BTN will air the game at 8 p.m. on Saturday.

The Blue-White Game presented by AAA is one of the nation's most popular spring football contests. A record crowd of 76,500 flocked to the 2009 intra-squad scrimmage, as the event's attendance mark fell three consecutive years, topping 70,000 in 2007, '08 and '09.

The Penn State men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's tennis, women's tennis and men's volleyball teams all will be competing at home during Blue-White Weekend presented by AAA. Please check www.GoPSUsports.com for all Penn State team schedules.
