Community CPR classes to be offered in Hershey

Community CPR classes will be offered by Penn State Hershey Heart and Vascular Institute and Penn State Hershey Life Lion. Instructors are all certified by the American Heart Association.

HeartSaver AED: This program is for anyone, age 9 and above, interested in learning the life-saving skills of CPR. Nonmedical individuals who require certification for their jobs may also attend. The course includes adult CPR, child and infant CPR, and instruction in choking and AEDs, and a skills test. There is no written test. A two-year certification card is issued at the completion of the class.

Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine employees interested in attending this course may attend and show their ID badge to have the registration fee ($35 per person) waived. This course will be offered at the following times:

--Wednesday, June 13, 6-9 p.m.

--Saturday, June 30, 9 a.m.-noon

--Wednesday, July 11, 6-9 p.m.

--Wednesday, Sept. 12, 6-9 p.m.

--Saturday, Sept. 29, 9 a.m.-noon

--Wednesday, Oct. 10, 6-9 p.m.

--Saturday, Nov. 17, 9 a.m.- noon

--Wednesday, Dec. 12, 6-9 p.m.

Healthcare Provider: This program is intended for community medical professionals requiring certification for their jobs. This class includes a written and a skills test. A two-year certification card is issued. This is a full provider course and may be attended by those seeking first time or renewal certification. The course will be offered at the following times:

--Wednesday, May 9, 6-9 p.m.

--Wednesday, Aug. 8, 6-9 p.m.

--Wednesday, Nov. 14, 6-9 p.m.

All courses will be held in the University Conference Center, Room 302C, on the Medical Center campus. To register to attend any of these classes, call the CareLine, 1-800-243-1455. Advance registration is required; payment ($60 per person) will be collected at the session. Certification cards will not be issued without payment.
