Exercise study needs volunteers

Have you ever wished you could exercise while watching TV or doing other sedentary activities? Researchers at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center are testing how many calories people can expend using a portable exercise device.

Eligible participants should be aged 25 to 65; not currently exercising regularly; meet project limits for body weight; live within 30 miles of Penn State Hershey Medical Center; not currently be pregnant, and not have other risk factors that could make brief, low to moderate-intensity pedaling on the portable exercise device unsafe. Helping the researchers test this exercise equipment will take approximately one hour of your time, and compensation is provided.

For more information, please contact the project staff at inmotion@hmc.psu.edu, or at 717-531-0003, ext. 281149. The study director is Liza S. Rovniak, PhD, MPH, Division of General Internal Medicine.

The research study, IRB 39298, has been approved by the Institutional Review Board, under federal regulations at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Penn State College of Medicine.
