Elementary education student receives University service award

Autumn Proctor, an elementary education major at Penn State Harrisburg who graduated May 5, recently received the University’s Rose Cologne Keystone Citizen Award. Proctor, of East Berlin, Pa., was honored at the annual Student Leadership and Service Awards Ceremony on April 22 at University Park.

Proctor has served as president of the Sigma Alpha chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in education, where she oversaw volunteer work at the Central PA Food Bank and the local Ronald McDonald home. She previously received the Kappa Delta Pi’s Excellence in Elementary Education Award, Distinguished Chapter Officer Award, Donna Gail Shaw Scholarship, and the Penn State Harrisburg Alumni Society Outstanding Senior Award.

The Rose Cologne Keystone Citizen Award “recognizes Penn State students who have made valuable contributions in the areas of service and volunteerism to the Penn State campus and local communities as demonstrated by their ongoing involvement and efforts to engage and lead students in volunteer service,” according to Barry Bram, senior associate director of student activities at University Park. Proctor was chosen by a University-wide selection committee.
