'I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change' to show July 18-Aug. 4

Penn State Centre Stage will present "I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change" with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, July 18 - Aug. 4, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Penn State Downtown Theatre Center.

The play is Off-Broadway's longest running musical comedy about love in suburbia. The talented comedic actors play more than 40 roles as they explore the various ups and downs of love and different types of relationships. From single life to dating to marriage to the end of relationships, this play explores the whole cycle with humor, emotion and insight. "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" was one of the first-produced shows in the Penn State Downtown Theatre Center in 2003. Cary Libkin directed the 2003 production and he will direct this summer’s production as well.

The cast of professionals includes Rebecca Baxter whose career has given her the opportunity to perform on Broadway, national and international tours, and in top regional theatres throughout the country; Audrey Cardwell whose regional credits include St. Louis MUNY, North Shore Music Theatre, Red Mountain Theatre Company and this season’s production of Beehive!; Don Farrell whose resume includes Off-Broadway, international and national tours, and Penn State Centre Stage's first production of "I Love you..." in 2003; and Brad Frenette who has worked regionally at Mountain State Repertory Theatre and 8th Wonder Theatre, among others.

Cary Libkin has directed well more than a dozen Centre Stage hits including "Rent," "Wait Until Dark," "The Dining Room," "Lend Me a Tenor," "Baby," "Whose Life Is It Anyway?," "The Fantasticks," "A Chorus Line" and "Driving Miss Daisy." For the Penn State School of Theatre, Libkin heads the Musical Theatre program, which offers a bachelor of fine arts in performance and a master of fine arts in directing.

Michael Rafter’s musical direction credits include on Broadway: "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "The Sound of Music," "The King & I" and "Gypsy." Arranger: "Swing and Sweet Charity." Associate Music Supervisor: "Jersey Boys." Television: "Gypsy" (Emmy award for music direction).
