Travel Services discontinued; self-booking tool still available

In response to Core Council recommendations, Penn State Procurement Services is discontinuing its Travel Services department and, beginning Aug. 17, will no longer provide full-service travel booking. Travelers will have the flexibility to use whatever travel sources, agencies or online services they choose as long as the revised policy requirements are supported. Travelers are encouraged to review the changes to the University’s travel policy.

Training and support for Travel OnLion, the University’s online self-booking tool, will continue to be offered for the convenience of faculty and staff. As always, the use of Travel OnLion is not mandated.

The travel website is in the process of being updated to reflect these changes and offer guidance on selecting and working with outside travel agencies, resources on traveling domestically and internationally, travel news, tips and frequently asked questions. The revised site will be available on Aug. 17.

Later this year, a user survey regarding ERS and related policy will be sent to travelers, delegates and approvers to gather feedback on the system and additional policy improvements that may be needed.
