Flags illustrate cultural diversity of campus

Fifty international flags now fly in the Olmsted Building atrium. Each represents the home country of Penn State Harrisburg students, faculty and staff.

Students at the campus hail from two dozen nations – with the greatest numbers from China, India, and South Korea – adding cultural diversity to Penn State Harrisburg and the Middletown community.

Donna Howard, assistant director of student affairs, was part of the group responsible for launching the display to raise awareness of the ethnic diversity on campus. “There are many more perspectives here than what meets the eye, and we have so much to learn from one another,” said Howard.

The flags are part of a 192-nation set housed at the college, ensuring that future students are recognized, regardless of where they call home.
