Harrisburg golf tournament to benefit athletes Sept. 28

Enjoy a round of golf while lending a hand to support local athletes at the third annual Penn State Harrisburg Golf Tournament, sponsored by Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster, Ltd. and Nittany Village. Held at 9 a.m. on Sept. 28, at the Colonial Golf and Tennis Club, the fundraiser will support Penn State Harrisburg’s NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletic program, which hosts numerous athletes from high schools in the midstate.

Register by Sept. 21 to meet celebrity athletes, including Ryan Whiting, 2012 United States Olympian; Chris Franklin, Harlem Globetrotters member; and former National Hockey League and American Hockey League Hershey Bears players Frederic Cassivi, Mitch Lamoureux, Dave Parro and Marc D'Amour. Also, speak with college athletes, coaches, and athletic administrators; enjoy a relaxing game of golf; and support the Penn State Harrisburg athletic department.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place for participants. Additional competitions include the longest drive, closest to the pin, hole-in-one, beat the pro, putting contest, power drive and a 50/50 drawing.

The cost for individual golfers is $125, or $500 for a team of four. Nongolfers may attend lunch for $25.

Recognition sponsorships are available, including the tournament sponsor for $5,000; the eagle sponsor for $2,500; and the birdie sponsor for $1,500. These sponsorships receive year-round recognition in publications, on the athletics website, and at athletic contests. Additional sponsorships include a food and beverage sponsor for $1,000; a par sponsor at $750; a cart sponsor for $500; a contest hole sponsor at $500; and a hole sponsor for $150.
