Coquese's Drive for Women's Resource Center raises $23,900

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- A record 129 golfers hit the links at the Penn State Blue Course for the Fifth Annual Coquese's Drive for the Women's Resource Center, hosted by Lady Lion head coach Coquese Washington on Friday (Aug. 31). The event was capped off with the presentation of a check for $23,900 from Washington to Centre County Women's Resource Center (CCWRC) director Anne Ard.

The team from the Family Clothesline won first place on in the open division with an 24-under par 48, while Joan Ritchie, Karen Krupa, Sue Cromwell and Jeanne Andrews claimed top prize in the women's division with a 12-under par 60. Second place in the open division went to Jerry Fisher, Joe Battista, Jason Dambach and Scott Walker. Second place in the women's division went to Sally Kennedy, Ann Rossi, Marilyn Mitinger and Kim Austin. Jim Bierly (#4), Joe Battista (#8), Dick Althouse (#14) and Christopher Perry (#17) each won closest to the pin prizes, while Christopher Perry and Karen Krupa claimed the men's and women's longest drives, respectively.

The Centre County Women's Resource Center provides services for victims of domestic and/or sexual violence. Counselor/Advocates are available 24 hours a day. There is no cost involved and all services are private.

The CCWRC provided services for 1,300 people last year in Centre County. Domestic and sexual violence happens to millions of people every year; from every religion, race, and economic class, in rural areas and cities, those with a college degree and in elementary school. Season tickets are $99 for adults and $50 for youth (12 and under), this includes a Nittany Lion Kids Club Membership for 2012-13. The PNC Flex Books are available again this year for $99. The Flex Book gives fans 12 vouchers, 10 that can be redeemed in any combination for Nittany Lion and Lady Lion Basketball tickets throughout the year and two extra vouchers for the Nittany Lions' Coaches Vs. Cancer game and the Lady Lions' Pink Zone game.
