September 12, 2012

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- An ice cream social will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, in the lobby of the Student Health Center at University Park. University Health Services (UHS) is sponsoring the event to thank students, faculty, staff and retirees for their support and to celebrate recent high marks received by UHS.

UHS was rated "Best Health Services" for 2012 by the Princeton Review. The Review polls 122,000 students at 377 colleges and universities concerning their opinions and campus experiences. In 2011 the poll placed UHS at number 5 in the nation.

The annual summary of UHS visitor comments also found marked improvement in 2012. Sixty-eight percent of customers submitting feedback complimented the services received. Nine percent of respondents offered suggestions and 23 percent had complaints. In 2011, 47 percent of customers providing feedback offered compliments, 15 percent had suggestions and 38 percent had complaints.

The 2012 UHS patient satisfaction survey results show continued high levels of customer satisfaction. The survey, conducted through the American College Health Association (ACHA), questioned UHS patients about satisfaction in areas such as wait times, ancillary services, friendliness of the UHS staff and overall patient satisfaction with UHS services. Penn State's UHS also compares favorably on most measures to the national survey benchmarks. The UHS ACHA survey results are available on the UHS website at http://studentaffairs.psu.edu/health/survey.pdf.

The event is a way for UHS administration to recognize and thank all UHS staff for contributing to these successes.
