Libraries to offer multi-network television coverage of election news

This semester, the News and Microforms Library (NML) on Penn State's University Park campus will offer extensive multi-network television coverage of the U.S. presidential election.

Special programming begins on Oct. 3, with the first presidential debate, on domestic policy. This will be followed by the vice presidential debate on Oct. 11 and the second debate, a town hall-type event, on Oct. 16. The final debate, on foreign policy, will be held on Oct. 22. Television coverage of all debates will begin at 9 p.m. On election night, Nov. 6, special programming will start at 6 p.m.

The library, located on the ground floor of west Pattee Library (adjacent to MacKinnon's Café), shows national and international news daily on three plasma-screen televisions in its news lounge. Political coverage will replace the regular schedule during the October debates and on election night. Viewers will be able to enjoy different perspectives and compare how television networks cover these memorable events.
