Chambers to participate in Walk to End Alzheimer's on Saturday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State basketball coach Patrick Chambers will speak at the opening ceremony and participate in The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's on Saturday, Sept. 29, in Boalsburg, Pa. The event held to raise funds and awareness in the battle against Alzheimer's is scheduled to begin with an opening ceremony and silent auction at 9:45 a.m. at the Boalsburg Military Museum with the walk beginning at 10 a.m.

Chambers' father, John "Rube" Chambers, passed away in June after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Patrick and his wife, Courtney, have started "Team Rube" and will participate in the walk. To make a donation to support "Team Rube" please visit: TEAM RUBE

"My father was a tremendous father," Chambers said. "He and my mother raised twelve children and always preached faith, laughter and a positive attitude. He lost his 12-year battle with Alzheimer's this year. We are excited to honor his memory by participating in the walk and to join with others who are working to bring an end to this awful disease."

The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds to advance research to treat and prevent Alzheimer's and provide programs to improve the lives of millions of affected Americans. Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions.
