Nominations open for W. LaMarr Kopp International Achievement Awards

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The University Office of Global Programs (UOGP) is currently accepting nominations for the 2012-13 W. LaMarr Kopp International Achievement Awards.

The W. LaMarr Kopp International Achievement Awards annually recognize those who have contributed significantly to the advancement of Penn State’s international mission. Winners in each of four categories -- faculty, staff, graduate student and undergraduate student -- receive a $1,000 stipend and an award plaque.

The awards, established in 1995, were renamed for W. LaMarr Kopp, deputy vice president for International Programs on the occasion of his retirement in 1996. Kopp, who served the University in a number of administrative positions for more than 33 years, was honored for his extraordinary efforts as a pioneer in international education.

Criteria for the awards, submission requirements, and nomination forms may be found on the UOGP website at http://www.global.psu.edu/about/award_kopp.cfm.

This year's awards selection committee is chaired by Judith Kroll, Distinguished Professor of Psychology, Linguistics and Women's Studies in the College of the Liberal Arts, and Kopp Faculty Award winner in 2008-09.

The four winners will be honored at the annual University awards convocations in spring 2013. Nominations/applications and supporting material should be submitted electronically to Janet Haner at jah3@psu.edu no later than 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10. For further information, email Haner or call 814-865-0771.
