Assignment Nittany Lion: Photo students stake out the Lion Shrine

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Students from Communications 269, Introduction to Photojournalism, were asked to stake out the Nittany Lion Shrine during Homecoming weekend on the University Park campus and compile a variety of photographs of visitors to one of Penn State's most popular tourist attractions and photo spots. The students photographed and met with hundreds of visitors while taking shifts on location. The images captured during a 28 hour period reflect a multitude of portrait styles from the standard family pose to some more unique and creative approaches. From marriage proposals to self portraits, from first time visitors to family pets, the Comm 269 Lion Shrine assignment reveals how this special venue on the University Park campus can urge visitors of all ages to smile and pose for a photograph.
